Located in the City of Kawartha Lakes, the brokerage offers all property and casualty insurance products to all of Central Ontario.
Our History
In 1932, Milton Wright obtained a General Insurance License and started to write policies for the Pilot Insurance Company in Durham County. The business remained a one man operation into the 1960’s at which point the Principal’s son, Mansel Wright, took over the agency and was writing policies for the Pilot Insurance and Lumberman’s Mutual (a large American company).
In 1966, Mansel began to write farm policies for the Maple Leaf Farmers Mutual of Columbus, Ontario and also wind insurance through the Ontario Weather Insurance Company of Grand Valley, Ontario. In the fall of 1966, the Farmers Mutual of Lindsay took over the book of business from the Maple Leaf Farmers Mutual and has remained a partner of the brokerage to this date.
In the summer of 1967, James W. Kloepfer purchased the accounts of Wright Insurance Agency. In 1970, the name was changed to James W. Kloepfer Insurance and was incorporated in 1980. Since that date, the brokerage has grown to over 2,600 clients. The brokerage continues to be family owned and operated dedicated to being active in the community and providing quality service to its clients.
